Dear Brothers and Sisters:
With this letter I will be giving you an update on the work that we are doing in the country of Ghana. We send money to Ghana every 2 months with the last time being on the 15th of June. At that time we sent $3,080 with $340 of that being used by the 3 students in the West Coast School of Preaching, $1450 being used by the 12 preachers that we are supporting, $600 for benevolence, $390 for the radio ministry and $300 for public preaching. In my opinion these are all very important parts of our mission effort but I feel as if the public preaching and the radio ministry are our 2 main avenues of leading others to Christ and that is the bottom line of this mission effort, leading others to Christ. At the present time and if the funds, are available we are planning on increasing the public preaching amount from $300 to $500. This increase will allow our preachers to go out for public preaching at least twice a month. Our team of preachers spent the third week of June in the Volta Region of Eastern Ghana conducting bible studies from house to house in the day time and doing public preaching at night and as a result of the effort 15 souls were baptized into Christ and a new congregation was established in the village of Strogboe. This establishment is our eighth congregation in the 5 years that we have been working in Ghana. This congregation has an old building available for them to use but they have nothing else therefore, we will be sending them $300 in August for bibles, song books and sitting benches. Brother Mawutor will be their preacher.
In the last 5 years we have accomplished a lot with the Ghana Mission Effort as hundreds of souls (probably thousands) have obeyed the gospel and congregations have been established. In fact, we have accomplished much more than I ever thought possible but I guess you might say that I am a greedy person, I want to do more because the fields are ready for harvest. The problem is not that we do not have the workers for the harvest. We have the workers, they just do not have the financial means to harvest the crop. I don't care how good the crop is, if we can not get the crop harvested, then we have a crop failure. Your financial help in this effort is appreciated and needed because it is leading others to Christ and remember every dollar contributed to this effort goes directly into the hands of a church of Christ preacher in Ghana, West Africa except for the $50 bank fee that it takes to get it there.
In Christ,
Owen Yandell

God has purpose for you!
by Larry Fitzgerald via The Plainview Church of Christ of Colorado City, Texas Website
God has a purpose for you. God wants us to have an intimate relationship with Him. That is the principle reason why Jesus died on the cross for you. So that you could become a part of God's family ... and receive an inheritance.
There is a very good discussion of this in Galatians 3:23-4:7.
Here, basically, the Bible says,
1. In Christ Jesus you are a son (or daughter) of God (Gal. 3:26).
2. When you are baptized into Christ you become Him {"put on Christ"} (Gal. 3:27).
3. Therefore you were adopted in God's family with all the privileges of being a member of that family (Gal. 4:1-7).
One Of My Favorite Encouraging Passages
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things
present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39, NKJV).
When Times are Tough
Favorite Encouraging Verses
I have set the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved
(Psalms 16:8).
Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalms 55:22).
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense;
I shall not be moved (Psalms 62:6).
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).
The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him (Nahum 1:7).
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD,
is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation (Isaiah 12:2, NIV).
But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings
like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1).
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him (Proverbs 30:5).
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1).
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4).
